Naama’s performance of Cole Porter’s 1950 song, “From This Moment On,” is her last single before the June 28 release of her album Wild Is Love. this single follows “Who Am I,” “Baby Won’t You Please Come Home,” and “I’m Glad There Is You.” “From This Moment On” was first recorded in November 1950 by Doris Day. The song was originally written for the 1951 musical Out of This World but was not used in that show. It was later included in the 1953 musical and movie Kiss Me Kate (MGM). The song fits perfectly in Naama’s theme of the evolution of love, from its inception, the spark of romance, through the heartbreak of disintegration and break-up to finally arriving at personal freedom.
Naama’s performance is accomplished and mature. Drummer Charles Gould accompanies the singer in the introduction, counting off a fast tempo that keeps Naama on her toes. She is more than up to the task. The singer renders the song with complete command and accomplishment, allowing compelling solos from pianist Glenn Zaleski, guitarist Peter Bernstein, and Gould. Her coda includes some beautifully laconic scat singing. This is Naama’s best singing to date.
