Svetlana - "Pure Imagination"

New York City vocalist Svetlana reimagines selections from her exquisite 2019 release, Night At The Movies.

Russian-American singer-composer Svetlana (she has a last name, the poetic Shmulyian (as imagined by Pushkin), but prefers the mono moniker), released the superb Night At The Movies (Starr Records) in 2019. Six years and an eon of technology later, Svetlana in congress with six industry leading producers, all female, reconsider a half dozen songs from Night At The Movies, all remixed and reflecting each of the producers brought on board for the project.

Svetlana will roll out several singles ahead of releasing her EP Reel To Remix: Night At The Movies Reimagined. The first single out is “Pure Imagination” from the film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory (Paramount, 1971). Remixed by Amber Navran of the alternative R&B band, Moonchild, the forward thinking producer, plucks Svetlana’s dreamy voice from the original recording, surrounding it with plush synth figures and elastic harmonies propelled by clever beats. This production transforms the quaint 1970s ballad into a sleek 21st century creation that challenges the listener to listen and hear differently.
