Sharpening her image, the former Corinne Mammana has become, appropriately, Corinne, and is adding to her discography of 2016 EP Under An August Moon (CD Baby) Yes, No, Next (Bandcamp, 2020), and In The Christmas City (Bandcamp, 2022) the single “Tickled Pink.” Corinne has paired up with Eric Todd, her manager and founder of the new jazz platform iProdigy for the release. Todd composed the single to create a nova bossa, retaining its traditional core while evolving its interior elements.
Over a soft but sassy bossa beat, Corinne purrs contemporary lyrics to pop-infused melodies, summoning all of the sensual humidity offered by the Brazilian southern climes. The instrumentation is a basic guitar trio supplemented with a tart, muted trumpet. “Tickled Pink” is a beautiful compromise between American Pop and the bossa nova of Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto for the early 1960s. Let’s hope for an entire album.
